The Hotchkiss School seeks an Assistant or Associate Director of Gift Planning to join the Leadership Giving team and play a key role in advancing the School’s first large-scale comprehensive campaign in more than thirty years. The ideal candidate for this position will be a thoughtful, articulate, and experienced fundraiser with the ability to balance robust frontline donor work with critical program administration. We seek a team player who will personally manage a select portfolio of up to 100 planned giving donors and donor prospects. The Assistant/Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Gift Planning to build stewardship programs and events to engage Hotchkiss’s legacy donors and to create a pipeline of future donors. The Assistant/Associate Director will also work closely with The Hotchkiss Fund colleagues to build a reunion gift planning program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Closely collaborate with Director of Gift Planning and other Leadership Giving team members and contribute to the team’s overall strategic objectives;

Manage a portfolio of up to 100 planned giving donors and donor prospects;

Implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward assigned constituents;

Craft high-end solicitation strategies for identified prospects and submit thoughtful and well-written proposals;

Coordinate Gift Planning fundraising for reunion classes;

Implement stewardship practices including certifying existing bequests;
-
Coordinate Gift Planning marketing efforts to constituents;

Support Gift Planning program administration;
-
Execute and/or support the execution of cultivation and stewardship events;

Work closely with members of the Alumni and Development Office to support campaign goals and objectives;

Engage campus colleagues in the cultivation and solicitation process;

Demonstrate a commitment to the value of education, the Hotchkiss mission and successfully articulate a compelling case for leadership support; and
-
Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of three years experience raising planned, major, and/or annual gifts;

Significant knowledge of planned giving fundamentals (funding vehicles, financial instruments, and modeling software) required;

Proven success in securing gifts of $100,000 or more;

Capital campaign experience in an educational setting preferred;

Mission-driven team player with excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills;

Excellent and persuasive oral and written communication skills;
-
High energy, ambition, and initiative, with a entrepreneurial mindset;

Strong attention to detail and able to perform tasks independently;

Proficiency in G-Suite, PG Calc, Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising software, and Microsoft Office;

Given the persistent risks of the spread of the Covid-19 virus – risks that are heightened due to the emergence of more highly transmissible variants – all employees of the School are required to be fully vaccinated by their first day of work as a condition of employment.
